Managaing Director, SVP

We are the Corporate Advisory division of Genesis Capital Group seeking a Managing Director to join the team based in New York to focus on originating and executing transactions with Financial Sponsors in the small to lower middle-market.

The Corporate Advisory Division is an integrated principal investing and advisory platform that provides a broad range of direct investment and investment banking services to small to lower middle-market companies. The Corporate Advisory Division includes a company-sponsored private equity fund that provides growth equity capital to successful and dynamic lower middle-market companies. The Corporate Advisory Division also includes the investment banking group that provides advisory solutions to small and middle-market companies for mergers & acquisitions, capital raising and other broad transactional support to assist companies in their business development efforts.

The Managing Director will be a creative and resourceful deal maker working with Financial Sponsors on both investment banking transactions and principal investing and leveraging the Private Banking model in partnership with the firm’s Investment Bank and lending capabilities. Candidates should be top performers who are willing to work hard in an unstructured environment where initiative, creativity, maturity and proactive enthusiasm for learning and driving business are highly valued. In addition to strong technical skills, the ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, experienced individual with solid investment, M&A and capital raising experience coupled with strong networking skills and a proven track record of originating new business opportunities in the lower middle-market.

 

SOME TYPICAL TASKS INCLUDE:

  • Deal Sourcing- Managing Directors will be responsible for originating both advisory engagements as well as principal investments. He/she will be expected to build and develop strong external relationships through their proprietary network, introductions through the Commercial Bank, personal  interactions and attending conferences and other relevant industry events. He/she will identify and assess prospective investments and advisory engagements to determine their potential viability based on established investment criteria and the market opportunity.
  • Managing or Quarterbacking the Deal Process. The Managing Director will be expected to build and manage a team to drive execution of the deal and to coordinate resources (internal and external) around the transaction process. He/she will direct and participate in the team diligence including: performing analysis and building financial models to project potential financial return scenarios and the market viability of a deal; meeting and assessing management teams; leading due diligence processes; preparing and/or reviewing comprehensive investment recommendations for consideration by investment committee; and supporting the deal closing process, including in the negotiation of relevant legal and financing agreements.
  • Portfolio Partnership consistent with the firm’s hands on approach to executing transactions, the Managing Director will proactively engage in partnerships with portfolio companies to drive strong financial results. This may include attending board meetings, acting as an advisor/thought partner to management teams, strategic support and advice, helping to make broader industry connections of interest, etc.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The candidate MUST HAVE a proven track record of originating new business opportunities and closing deals in the lower middle market, DEAL SHEET REQUIRED
  • Demonstrated track record of successful transaction experience in a private equity firm, leading investment bank, or in corporate development role; ideally with exposure to a diverse range of transaction types and investment  structures
  • Comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Proven leadership and management qualities, and a high level of integrity
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent business analytic and quantitative skills combined with outstanding judgment

Financial Advisor/Consultant(s)

Our firm is a full service, asset management boutique with offices in NYC. We are seeking Financial Advisors with active books of business. Clients must be loyal to the individuals, not their firms.

Compensation is 100% fee-based with payout rate approximating 50% and multiple revenue streams available. It is unlikely that any account conflicts will arise.

The firm is populated by entrepreneurial professionals who appreciate and thrive in that type of environment. Unnecessary roadblocks are not placed in one’s path to developing business.

 

SOME TYPICAL TASKS INCLUDE:

  • Create and maintain presentations and reports for clients
  • Assist in product-launch and market-entry assessments
  • Coordinate efforts with other groups and businesses
  • Assess strategic initiatives including complex analysis of data
  • Perform due diligence and other typical deal activities

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 3 years of financial industry experience
  • Business Development, strategy consulting, investment management, investment banking, equity/debt research, or similar role with a top-firm is a plus
  • BA/BS with a record of strong academic performance
  • Quantitative skills and experience with Excel models
  • Knowledge of Finance and/or Accounting

Office Assistant

Genesis Capital is looking for an Office Assistant.  The office assistant would assist in all day-to-day operations of Genesis Capital Group.

 

SOME TYPICAL TASKS INCLUDE:

  • Perform general administrative and support functions for the office including maintaining files, preparing correspondence, running reports, answering telephones, scheduling appointments, copying and faxing
  • Organize, coordinate, and maintain all client paperwork
  • Correspond with clients to complete new accounts, asset transfers, and other forms
  • Ensure branch office meets compliance requirements by recording all transactions on appropriate logs and blotters, and by setting up client files correctly and obtaining necessary information, etc
  • Respond to reoccurring client requests including but not limited to the following: Data templates, assets, holdings, performance, characteristics, commentary, investment due diligence and compliance questionnaires, surveys, fact sheet/prospectus/annual report distribution, etc.
  • Respond to daily ad-hoc client requests
  • Organize & prepare materials for client meetings/portfolio reviews, due diligence visits & conference calls, billing
  • Conduct research on various topics and work on special projects on an ad hoc basis
  • Research and resolve client service problems by contacting Home Office and Sponsor Companies to resolve problems or errors as needed

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong time management skills; ability to manage multiple projects with varying priorities
  • Ability to work well under pressure

  • Must have strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • 1-4 years working experience and/or knowledge of the securities industry is preferred

Financial Analyst Intern

Our firm is an institutionally-sized family office seeking a portfolio analyst intern. This group manages a global, diversified investment portfolio comprised of both traditional and alternative asset class strategies. The office is headquartered in New York City.

 

SOME TYPICAL TASKS INCLUDE:

  • Analytic support and analysis of externally managed funds across a variety of asset classes/strategies/sectors
  • Review of investment performance: both risk and return
  • Aggregating market data and where possible, creating systems to automate aggregation of that data
  • Running basic portfolio optimizations; assist in the analysis of portfolio structure, allocation to new managers/strategies/sectors. Execute regular and ad hoc analyses used to help make portfolio decisions and identify risk factors
  • Researching opportunistic trade ideas on a wide variety of securities
  • Drafting of detailed investment recommendations

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1 year of related investment experience
  • Strong quantitative and data manipulation skills with a robust understanding of broad asset class fundamentals are desired

Business Development and Marketing Intern

The internship consists of Real-time Corporate Projects (RCPs). These are assignments in which interns are placed to work on actual, non-simulated business issued. Through the guidance of our senior executives, the intern will learn to utilize theoretical knowledge and incorporate it into result-oriented solutions. As an RCP member, interns will enhance their problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills and will apply a broad range of marketing concepts such as opportunity assessment and target market selections.
